On December 26, oldest US President Gerald Ford died. When Gerald Ford was in office, he was presented with a unique Frabel sculpture.

Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party, Mack Mattingly commissioned Hans Godo Frabel to create the GOP symbol - the elephant - for President Gerald Ford in glass. The glass elephant represents the strength and dignity inherent of the GOP mascot. President Ford was so thrilled to accept his party's mascot created by Frabel that he wrote a letter expressing his gratitude for this wonderful gift. President Ford was known for his integrity and willingness to listen to solve problems affecting his country and his people. He settled the country after the upheaval of Nixon's resignation and focused on healing the troubles afflicting the land.
